Diane Moorhouse, M.Arch.

Diane Moorhouse knew she loved interior design by the time she was eight. In 1990, after a business degree and five years in product marketing, she enrolled in the Masters of Architecture program at the University of Manitoba, Canada. One year was largely spent in the wood shop and Diane discovered a passion for more hands-on, tactile, small-scale design work. After years of loving yarns and knitting, she then discovered wood, metal, glass, and concrete. Upon graduation, she received an Award of Merit from the American Institute of Architects. Diane and her husband moved to Vancouver in 1995 where she worked with an architect renovating small hospitals. A year and a half later, at home with her first child, Diane began developing her own designs for furniture and home accessories.

design approach:

In her product and furniture designing, Diane is drawn to sculptural shapes and beautiful materials. She loves bringing different materials and textures together and designing with the aim of bringing this pleasure into the home in a beautiful and practical way.

Diane is available for private commission.

“I always start with what a client loves and wants to keep.“ Diane takes the time to talk with her clients about their dreams for their home to clarify what they want to keep and what they would like to achieve. She takes an uncluttered approach where antiques and contemporary pieces can co-exist.

“I offer my clients a warm, pulled-together look.“ When the focus remains on the client, the outcome will always look like a home, not a stage set.

During the design process, Diane stays open and responsive to her clients. “This is important to me; I want my clients to have beautiful and practical homes where they feel completely comfortable.“
